The mission of the Georgian Book Association is to develop the book industry in Georgia, strengthen the publishing sector, protect the freedom of printing and expression, and promote a culture of literacy.

The association was established in February 2025 at the initiative of those publishers and distributors who left the Georgian Publishers and Distributors Association in protest. Since its inception, the Georgian Book Association has aimed to create an independent and transparent publishing environment, support democratic values, and promote professional development in the book sector.

დღეს ასოციაცია 27 წევრ ორგანიზაციას აერთიანებს — წიგნის გამომცემლებსა და გამავრცელებლებს, რომლებიც აქტიურად მონაწილეობენ ქართული წიგნის ბაზრის განვითარებაში. ასოციაცია წარმოადგენს წევრების საერთო ინტერესების დამცველ პლატფორმას და ხელს უწყობს მათ შორის თანამშრომლობას, გამოცდილების გაზიარებასა და ინდუსტრიის წინაშე არსებული გამოწვევების ერთობლივად გადაჭრას.

The association upholds the principles of freedom of publishing and distribution, supports the increase of access to books, and promotes the development of a reading culture in Georgia. One of the main directions of the Georgian Book Association is to strengthen member organizations and create an environment that fosters their sustainable, free, and competitive activities.

In 2026, the Georgian Book Association became a member of the World Association of Publishers and will benefit from the status of an initial member in its first year.

The members of the association believe that a strong and independent book industry is a significant foundation for the country's cultural, educational, and democratic development.
